Farewells and welcome

It's that time of year when Methodist ministers move on to pastures new and Bradford North Circuit is no exception. During August we say farewell to our Superintendent, Rev Alistair Newton as he takes up superintendency of the Calderdale Circuit , to Rev Keith Hunt who is moving to Pudsey and to Rev Freddy Takavarasha on his move to Norwich.  We wish them and their families a smooth move and hope they settle quickly into their new homes and circuits, and pray for God's blessing on their ministries. Although we are not welcoming anyone new to the circuit, there will be a Welcoming & Commissioning Service at 7.30 pm on Thursday 6 September 2012 at Haworth Road Methodist Church for Rev Nick Blundell who becomes our Superintendent from 1 September 2012.  Nick and Julie plan to move back into a Circuit manse so we also wish them a smooth move into their new home. We also remember the rest of the ministry team in our prayers; they may not be moving, but they will be taking

Message from the Link - Issue 14 August 2012

Dear Friends What did you say?  I wonder how good you are at listening? I know when my children were small; I developed the knack of appearing to listen to their seemingly endless observations and questions.  In fact I was often more engrossed in another task.  Sometimes I was caught out and my sons realised I wasn't paying attention to them at all.  My mind was elsewhere. Listening is a very under-rated skill: note one that we work to develop; but maybe we should.  Perhaps it's one thing we should all learn to do well.  Many of us listen to grasp an opportunity to take over a conversation, to put in our two-penny's worth, to set the speaker right or toss in a joke breaking an uncomfortable moment of seriousness. Listening demands concentration to really pay attention to what someone else is saying.  Our focus is on the other.  We need to put aside our own urge to argue, to dispute, to convince others of our point of view.  Listening is about trying to hear better w

ALL, Together A special, inclusive service for learning disabled people and their families, carers and friends. A Question of Sport - 30 October

A Question of Sport Our second Sports Consultation event will be at Old Trafford, Manchester United FC on Tuesday 30 October 2012 , 10.30am-3.30pm. It’s an exciting day for young people (8-23 years) interested in sport and their leaders/youth workers. An opportunity to meet with other children and young people involved in The Methodist Church with a passion for sport. Contribute to workshops that will influence the direction of future work through sport in the Church. Be inspired by stories of young people making a difference through sport in their local communities, national and international initiatives. The cost is £10/person and includes lunch/tour.
